8 x 10" framed graphite portrait

I entered this piece into the Hope and Son Art Awards held at the Otago Art Society earlier this year where it sold on opening night. It is based on a photograph taken by my friend Rebecca Van Amber while we were tramping at Easter (I wasn't quick enough with my own camera).

My drawings are highly detailed and take many hours to complete (this one took almost 30 hours, over a series of 10 days). Since these drawings are so labour intensive I only do them as commissions or (like this one) for specific exhibitions. I prefer to work with single subjects, although I can fit between 3-5 subjects onto a page (depending on size). Prices start from $80NZD, and will depend on size, number of subjects, complexity and level of detail.

I am always looking for models, if you are in Dunedin and are keen please contact me. No experience is needed, payment comes in the form of one of my bags. You must have a flexible schedule as photoshoots are weather dependant.

Wonderful wearable art

Funky, one of a kind bags made from recycled neck ties. These bags make great conversational pieces and dress up any outfit! I always get loads of complements every time I leave the house with one of these bags. And they make great gifts!!!


Many hours are spent painstakingly hand stitching to create a single bag. Everything is hand stitched apart from the lining (which is machine sewn to provide strength). Once the lining is sewn, it is then hand stitched into the bag.

All my ties are recycled, collected from op shops or donated by friends/family/strangers. I spend ages working out colour/style combinations to get that perfect arrangement.   There are 3 sizes of bags available:  

Tiny Bags

This style is great for carrying your cell phone/cards/keys on a night out or the perfect size for kids.

Evening Bags

This style is great for carrying your cell phone/cards/keys on a night out, the perfect accessory for that little black dress!!! Also works as a great day bag for those who don't carry a lot with them.

Large Bags

This style is great for carrying all your daytime needs, the perfect everyday bag!

A herd of horses

My poor neglected blog, needs a little love. Its been a while since I posted and in that time I have been creating furiously. In the next few days I hot to get caught up and post all my various creations. Today I'll start with my latest creative endeavour... Hobby horses!

These hobby horses are made lovingly handmade from all new materials. They stand approximately 1m tall (from the floor to the top of the ears). All care is taken to ensure all parts are secured, however since this product is made up of small parts therefore small children should be watched when playing with these hobby horses.

I can make these in a huge range of fabrics, so if you are after something specific please ask and I will do my best to help.

Hobby horses are $60 NZD each (plus postage/packaging).

Opportunity to exhibit - Dunedin, October 2012

I am organising an exhibition later this year for anyone wishing to participate.

The theme is open as it will be an exhibition of small artworks (including but not limited to sculpture, jewellery, glass, textiles, photography, paintings and drawings).

15th - 27th Oct @ The Art Station, 1st floor, Dunedin Railway Station.


Its open to all New Zealand artists - emerging to full time!

Artwork size is a maximum of 300mm (12").
Entry fee: $8 for 1 artwork, $15 for 2 artworks, $25 for 4 artworks or $35 for 6 artworks (max of 6 per artist).

Registrations close on the 1st of August.
